About Me
I was born in Bedfordshire in 1963 and from an early age had an interest in drawing and painting. Despite have this keen interest I never went on to have any formal training. Through years of practice I taught myself the necessary skills to become a full time artist. I studied and copied the paintings of the old masters such as Rembrandt, Canaletto and Turner. These artists all used very different methods, but this taught me an enormous amount on how to approach different subjects.
I became a still life artist in an attempt to portray the subtle interest, beauty and colour not only in everyday objects themselves, but also the interaction between objects and their surrounding space as light travels amongst them.
With still life I have the luxury of determining virtually every aspect of my painting, particularly the lighting which is totally within my control. Beginning with the choice of objects, to the placing of those items, to the management of light and all the effects created by light and shadow through colour and value.
My aim is to portray, and, perhaps heighten the beauty of everyday objects.
During the past twenty years I have exhibited worldwide and have collectors in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and across Europe.
